Pritelivir is an oral antiviral that blocks a key enzyme the herpes simplex virus needs to copy its DNA. This mechanism is distinct from older drugs like acyclovir, which the virus can sometimes evade. For immunocompromised adults with resistant infections, pritelivir could offer a new treatment path when other options are limited.
