About
IgA nephropathy is a kidney disease where the immune system causes inflammation that damages the organ's essential filtering units. Atacicept is a lab-made protein that blocks two specific immune signals, BLyS and APRIL, which normally tell antibody-producing cells to multiply. By quieting this overactive immune response at its source, the drug may help slow the progressive kidney damage associated with the disease.
