Read original at drugs.com ↗ Background Drug-class context · Wikipedia Gadoquatrane (sold under the brand Ambelvist) is a macrocyclic gadolinium-based contrast agent (mGBCA) used with contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (CE-MRI) to detect and visualize lesions with abnormal vascularity. The recommended dose is 0.01 mmol/kg of actual body weight — approximately 60 percent less gadolinium than common macrocyclic agents dosed at 0.1 mmol/kg, and approximately 20 percent less than gadopiclenol (Bracco's lower-dose macrocyclic agent). Reduced gadolinium exposure is clinically relevant because gadolinium-based agents can deposit in brain tissue with repeated administration, and patients with renal impairment face an elevated risk of nephrogenic systemic fibrosis when exposed to higher cumulative doses.
