FDA approved AstraZeneca's Imfinzi in combination with BCG induction and maintenance therapy for BCG-naïve, high-risk non-muscle-invasive bladder cancer.

What this means

Imfinzi (durvalumab) is an immunotherapy drug that helps the immune system recognize and attack bladder cancer cells by blocking a protein called PD-L1. The FDA cleared Imfinzi for use alongside BCG therapy in patients with high-risk bladder cancer who haven’t received BCG treatment before. This approval gives doctors a new option for patients who may need stronger treatment to prevent cancer recurrence.
