FDA grants Premarket Approval for Implantica's RefluxStop implant for the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease.
What this means
RefluxStop is an implantable device that treats severe acid reflux by physically holding the stomach valve in place to prevent stomach acid from backing up. Today the FDA approved the device for patients with gastroesophageal reflux disease who haven't responded to medication. This provides a new surgical option for people whose chronic reflux isn't controlled by drugs.
